KOHAT, November 7: The district administration has taken action against several shopkeepers during the anti-encroachment campaign in Kohat district.
The Assistant Commissioner, Mr Muhammad Ali Asghar, and Tehsil Municipal Officer Mr Muhammad Shoaib supervised the drive. Besides, the police and municipal committee officers also participated in the action.
The operation was carried out against those shopkeepers who had raised structures adjacent to Pindi Road without taking prior permission from the government.
On the occasion, the assistant commissioner told TNN that same measures would be taken in other markets of Kohat.
“As a first step, we have carried out our task today. Right after here, we will conduct operation on Hangu Road. We will head towards the main bazaar once whole of the area is cleared.”
On the other hand, shopkeepers complained that the administration holds the poor people accountable while it ignores the influential people in such matters.
“We are being punished over our private property,” stated a trader.
Local residents say encroachments have created problems in the area because the markets have become congested.
