Peshawar: A court in Jodhpur sentenced Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan to jail for five years over poaching rare antelope back in 1998.
The court also imposed a fine of INR50,000 on him and shifted him to the Jodhpur police after the arrest warrants were issued. Four other co-actors with him in the movie Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam Kothari and Sonali Bandre have been acquitted. Khan’s bail hearing in the court has been decided for tomorrow therefore he will spend the night in Jodhpur Jail.
According to media sources, Khan was accused of killing two Blackbucks in Kankani Village Jodhpur during shooting of his movie “Hum Sath Sath Hain”.
He had been convicted under section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act which means the accused will be awarded five to six years in prison. The case against him occurred decades ago but the final arguments in the case were completed in Jodhpur court on March 28.
Khan’s life had long been spent in controversies, from breakups to scandals to troubles with the law. In 2015, he was found guilty in a deadly hit in run accident and was given a five-year prison sentence however later his council tossed the conviction claiming that the evidence presented were not sufficient.
