NOWSHERA: The body of a 12-year-old boy, who was strangulated after sexual abuse, was recovered from Kabul River in Nowshera on Friday.

Station House Officer (SHO) Nowshera Cantt Police Station Naseem Khan said a person named Gul Zada from Jalala area of Mardan contacted police after the pictures of the victim boy were shared on the social media for identification. He said Gul Zada told police that the victim was his son Musavir who was a student at Jamia Darul Uloom Rehmania, Mardan. Gul Zada further revealed that his son went missing after going out of home on 7 July. He said he had no enmity with anyone.

TNN correspondent said the doctors at the District Headquarters Hospital Nowshera have confirmed that the boy was sexually abused several times before his death. The samples from the body were sent for DNA tests and the body for handed over to heirs for burial.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Justice (R) Dost Muhammad Khan has taken notice of the incident and directed the district police officer to investigate it. He said the government shares the grief of the victim family and the culprits involved in this heinous crime will be awarded strict punishment.
