TANK: Resident of around 16 villages continue to suffer as the only bridge that connect them with Tank had been washed away in 2013 flood await reconstruction.
The bridge was washed away in flood in 2013 for which the provincial government had approved fund.
According to local residents, the bridge would connect Shah Alam, Kari Haider, Michankhel, Badinkhel, Nasran, Daudkhel and fourteen more village with district headquarters Tank disconnecting the villages from Tank city.
The local residents constructed a wooden bridge temporarily that was washed away in floods. “We can only appeal the provincial government to take notice of our problems and construct it,” appealed Syed Gohar Ali, a resident of Daudkhel.
He said that work on the bridge was started but the contracted stopped it in the middle due to pending bills. He added that protests were staged and delegations met the ministers and district government officials but to no avail.
When contacted, the executive engineer of Communication and Works Department said the army was being contacted to construct a bridge.
