Brother files appeal in PHC against ATC verdict in Mashal Khan lynching case

PESHAWAR: The brother of Mashal Khan has moved the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against the verdict of the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).

Aimal Khan, brother of Mashal Khan, said in his appeal that the 26 people acquitted in the lynching case should be arrested tried again. Aimal Khan said these 26 persons could be scene in different videos during the lynching of Mashal Khan.

Mashal Khan, a student of Journalism Department in Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, was killed by an enraged mob after accusing him of blasphemy.

An Anti-Terrorism Court on 7 April had awarded death sentence to one accused in the case, 25 accused were awarded imprisonment, while 26 were acquitted.

Iqbal Khan, father of Mashal Khan, had said justice has not been done in the case.

Three accused in the murder case are still at large.
