PESHAWAR, 22 October: Pak Army claimed on Thursday that the homemade Buraq drone killed several militants in its first air strikes in South Waziristan Agency (SWA). Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that precise air strikes were carried out by unmanned Buraq at dark on Thursday night. However the exact number and identity of casualties could not be known.
Last month the unmanned aircraft of Pakistan fired missiles on the the hideouts of militants in North Waziristan Agency killing three militants stated to be involved in a number of terrorist activities. It was the first time that Pakistan used its homemade armed drone in tribal areas against militants.
It merits a mention here that Pakistan successfully test-fired its Buraq, in March this year.
