PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet Tuesday approved KP Employees Social Security Act 2021, extension of Employees Social Security Ordinance 1965 to Malakand, Swat, Buner and merged tribal districts.

The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan approved industrial Relation Rules 2021 and KP Information Commission Employees Service Rules 2020.

The cabinet also approved the Witness Protection Act 2021 to provide conducive environment to witness in order to record their statements without any fear.

Briefing the media persons about decisions taken in cabinet meeting, Special Assistant to CM on Information and Higher Education Kamran Bangash said that 40 important agenda items were disposed of. He said the cabinet also approved regularisation of 2,500 ex-servicemen till attaining age of superannuation. These servicemen are presently serving in KP Police on contract basis and rendered valuable services in the fight against terrorism.

Kamran Bangash shared that the cabinet approved provision of 225-kanal of land for establishment of University in Azakhel area of Nowshera with sports ground and inclusion of liver transplant in Sehat Card Scheme. He said the chief minister directed identification of those government buildings of which are under-utilised so that they could be used for public welfare.

The cabinet approved Panagah Rules 2020 to ensure healthcare facilities, security, food and transportation etc for homeless people staying in shelter homes. The cabinet approved Local Government Private Housing Schemes (Management and Regulation) Rules 2021 to provide a comprehensive legal framework for management, regularization of private housing schemes to ensure basic civic amenities and municipal service to the residents besides planned construction and efficient land utilization.

The cabinet approved amendments to Local Government Act 2013 with regard to upcoming local government elections. It also approved handing over administrative control of Food Safety and Halal Food Authority from Health Department to Food Department.

The cabinet discussed the proposed KP Artist Welfare Endowment Fund Act 2021 to extend financial support to deserving artists and constituted a committee to further improve the Act and present it in next meeting of the cabinet.

The cabinet also approved a supplementary grant of Rs213.344 million for standardization of all tehsil and district headquarters hospitals.
