DAGGAR, June 2: Candidates for the vacancies of teacher (drawing master-basic scale-15) at schools in Buner district have gone on hunger strike because they say their interviews are not being held though they have passed written tests.
They staged a sit-in in front of the district education department. The protesters said the posts of drawing masters have been filled in other districts of Khyber Pakhtukhwa but the vacancies of 41 males and 10 females are lying vacant in Buner district.
They alleged the district education officer had kept quiet over the issue.
One of the candidates, Mr Ahmed Sayed, told TNN, “We had already warned the authorities to stage hunger strike camp if our problem was not solved by Monday (2 June). Out protest will continue till the drawing masters are appointed. The education authorities are not showing us the reasons that are delaying the appointments.”
