College students protest against irregularity of teachers in Bajaur

Students of Government College of Technology in Bajaur on Monday protested against non-availability of teaching staff. The students gathered outside the college in Inayat Killi area and blocked the road for a while. They also chanted slogans against the college administration and high ups of the Fata education department. The protesting students were of the view that there were only 11 teachers for more than 500 students. They alleged that teachers did not come to college and take classes regularly.

Forces foil bid to smuggle chemicals, prima cord used in explosives

Security forces on Thursday recovered huge quantity of chemicals and prima cords usually used in making of bombs and explosive devices at Bhigyari check post here, official sources said. According to sources, security officials stopped a truck at Bhigyari check post and found 300 bags chemicals and prima cords. Sources added that two persons have been arrested along with the confiscated contraband.

Khyber Agency govt schools to get solar power

The Khyber Agency education department has decided to install solar energy panels in all the government-run schools to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to schools in the agency. The Agency education officer Adil Nawaz said that initially solar panels will be installed in 15 government-run high schools of the agency at a cost of Rs. 17 million.

Surrendered militants complete technical training in Bara

The militants who surrendered to the government in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency have completed their technical training courses. A ceremony in this regard was organised at Sabaoon-2, de-radicalisation centre in Bara, on Tuesday. Inspector General Frontier Corps Major General Shaheen Mazhar took oath of loyalty with the country from 90 participants of the programme.

Polio worker escapes bomb attack in Landikotal

A polio worker in Sultankhel area of Landikotal tehsil in Khyber Agency escaped a bomb attack on Tuesday. The local people said an improvised explosive device was planted outside the house of CPW officer Ishtiaq which exploded on a dog coming out of the house. Ishtiaq remained safe in the blast.
