Like other parts of the globe, the international Labor Day has been observed in Pakistan today on Sunday. To mark the day, different programs, walks, rallies and seminars were arranged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adjoining tribal areas. As a goodwill gesture, the Peshawar traffic police had announced not to challan taxi drivers and public transporters over violation of traffic rules. In case of any wrong doing, the traffic police would have only advised them not to repeat the violation again. A rally was taken out in Jamrud, Khyber agency under auspices of Pakistan People Party which was attended by local leadership of the party and general public.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has abolished the FATA education rationalisation policy after it received negative response. The policy was introduced by the FATA Education Directorate in 2015 under which 561 schools, mostly primary schools, having low enrolment were closed.
Mosquito nets have been distributed among 1,300 people in Miranshah tehsil of North Waziristan Agency under the Directorate of Malaria Control Programme. The mosquito nets were distributed at Sarwarkot civil dispensary under the supervision of the agency surgeon on Friday.
“We still demand abolishment of Frontier Crimes Regulations and the much trumpeted merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hence FATA may be brought under the purview of the Constitution of Pakistan in the same manner as it applies to all Pakistan”, lamented Sirajul Haq.
