A student was killed and another sustained injuries in a clash with an employee of the Hazara University on Wednesday. Shinkiari Police said the university employee, Chand and two students, Suleman and Sajjad quarrelled during snooker game outside the university.

Reham Khan to form Mashoom for child rights protection

Reham Khan, the ex-spouse of PTI Chairman Imran Khan has announced to form “Mashoom” an organization for the protection of rights of children. Speaking at a news conference here on Monday, Reham Khan, who is also a media person and social worker, said Mashoom (child in Pashto) will serve as a shelter for homeless and out of school children who are generally involved in child labor. She added that her organization will provide free education and food for such children.

The transgender community has moved a constitutional petition before the Peshawar High Court against the deletion of a specific column for them in the form of the upcoming national Census. Speaking at a news conference in Peshawar press club on Monday before submitting the petition in the high court, TransAction Alliance president Farzana said that the Census form initially had a column for transgender under the head of disabilities to which civil society had objected.

Pashto drama artist Fazal Rahman Seelai passes away

Popular comedian and Pashto drama artist Fazal Rahman alias Seelai has passed away due to cardiac arrest in Kanju area of district Swat on Thursday, his family members said. His funeral prayer was offered in Shaheed Baba area and was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Kanju. Fazal Rahman performed in a large number of Pashto CD and TV dramas. He was popular for his humorous performance all over the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other areas where Pashto is being understood.

Mob kills student in Abdul Wali Khan University on blasphemy charges

A mob killed a student of journalism department of the Abdul Wali Khan University, Madan on charges of posting sacrilegious contents online, police said here on Thursday. According to police, the student killed by the mob is identified as Mashal Khan, a resident of Zaida village in Swabi. Following the incident, the university has been shut down by the administration for an indefinite period. Assistant Registrar Ashoor Khan issued a notification stating the university will remain close until further notice.

KP government to regularise contractual employees in next budget
