Following reduction in the prices of petroleum products, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transport department has also slashed transport fare on inter-districts routes within the province. However, a number of passengers have complained that the transporters are not following the new fares announced by the government.
A police sub-inspector has been gunned down by unknown armed people in Badhber area on the outskirts of the provincial metropolis on Tuesday evening, police said.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Nasir Khan Durrani has suspended the station house officer (SHO) of Hayatabad police station on corruption charges. According to a spokesperson of the IGP, there were reports that the SHO Wajid Shah has been involved in corruption and having links with smugglers and anti-social elements.

Weather experts say February temperatures don’t exceed the limit of 20 degrees candidate, but it has gone to the extent of 27 degrees centigrade this year and people have already started using fans. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will provide free of cost textbooks worth Rs2.73 billion to students from 1st to 10th grade this year. KP Education Minister Atif Khan said this in a meeting at the Textbook Board in Peshawar on Monday. The minister said the provincial government has printed textbooks with the cost of Rs46.5 million so far.

About 5,000 parents refused to administer polio vaccine to their children during the recent immunisation campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to Emergency Operation Cell, the most refusal cases (2,000) were reported in Peshawar where parents did not allow the vaccination teams to give polio vaccine to their children
Peshawar Police have arrested fraudster who was impersonating as a Colonel of a sensitive agency. Superintendent of Police Cantt Kashif Zulfiqar said on Monday that the fraudster, identified as Zahir, was demanding extortion of Rs1 million from a money changer.
