GHALLANAI, 6 December: A ceremony to pay homage to those who lost their lives in the ongoing war on terror was arranged in Mohmand Agency on Sunday.

The event which was organised by the Awami National Party (ANP) was attended by the relatives of the slain security forces personnel, journalists and other people. The ANP leaders Mian Iftikahr Hussain and Sardar Hussain Babak said in their addresses that the Pakhtuns always offered great sacrifices for the country. They paid rich tributes to those who lost their lives in the militancy.

Meanwhile, a separate event was organised at Mohmand Press Club to pay homage to slain journalists Mukarram Khan Atif, Abdul Wahab and Pervaiz Khan. On the occasion, Quran Khwani was arranged for the slain journalists. Participants of the ceremony paid tributes to the slain journalists for their services.

A tribal journalist, Farooq Firaq told TNN on the occasion that the media persons of FATA are facing a lot of hardships in performing their duties. “We are facing the problems of terrorism and state highhandedness at the same time. Even if we get rid of these two problems, then we find us confronted by other influential people,” he said.
