CHITRAL: The colourful three-day Chilimjusht spring festival, which was held at the scenic Bamburate, Birir and Rumbur valleys in Chitral, concluded with much funfair on Wednesday.

The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) had established a tent village for tourists coming to enjoy the festival. During Chilimjusht, houses were decorated and the Kalash people wore new clothes that were specifically prepared for the occasion. The main feature of the festival was a selection of life partner for unmarried boys and girls.

Besides people from different parts of the country, a number of foreign tourists also visited Chitral to enjoy Chilimjusht. The organisers said that this year the participation of local and foreign tourists was unprecedented.

A local tourist information centre was also set up to facilitate the tourists and give them required information.

To Kalasha the festival is the culmination of religious life. As part of the religious and cultural traditions, the locals distributed dry fruits and other gifts among the visitors and guests. A group of motorcyclists also participated in adventure tourism activities at the festival.
