JAMRUD: A Pesh Imam (prayer leader) and a child sustained injuries when unknown miscreants hurled a hand grenade on a hujra in Khyber tribal district on Wednesday.

The local administration said the incident happened in the evening in Malik Abad area of Jamrud sub-division where unknown miscreants hurled a hand grenade on the hjura (male guest house) of Tahir at a time when a local cleric, Farhad was teaching religious lessons to his male and female students. Farhad and six-year-old girl Mahnoor sustained injuries in the blast.

The injured cleric and child were taken to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar where their condition was stated to be out of danger. Family sources said Tahir had no enmity with anyone.

The miscreants fled the scene after the attack. The administration has launched investigation into the incident.
