MARDAN, 15 October: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak on Wednesday inaugurated the first even bomb-proof jail in Mardan.

The jail officials told the chief minister at the inauguration ceremony that the prison has the capacity of 2,200 prisoners. They said school, hospital and other facilities are available at the jail. The chief minister was told that 62 cells have been established in two sectors of the jail where dangerous prisoners will be kept. All the walls of the jail have been built bomb-proof.

The main control room of the jail is equipped with advanced gadgets which can only be operated through verified thumb impressions. Separate compartments have been established for juveniles.

Mr Khattak said on the occasion that a family park will be established in the old district jail. He said dangerous prisoners will be shifted to Mardan Jail. He said there is no shortage of security personnel in KP.
