Colonel among three soldiers killed as militants attack FC convoy in Balochistan

QUETTA, 5 September: Three soldiers, including a Colonel, were martyred while three others sustained injuries in an attack by militants on a convoy of Frontier Corps (FC) in Balochistan on Monday.

Official sources said a convoy of FC was travelling in Shangar, an area located between Panjgur and Washuk districts, when unknown militants attacked them. Lieutenant Colonel Aamir Waheed, Lance Naik Masood and Sepoy Irfan lost their lives in the attack, while Lieutenant Colonel Shajeeullah and a havildar and a sepoy sustained injuries. The injured soldiers were taken to hospital for treatment. The security forces cordoned off the area after the incident and launched a search operation.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Khan Zehri strongly condemned the attack. In a statement, he said it was a cowardly terrorist attack by enemies of peace. He said terrorists will never succeed in their nefarious designs. He said the sacrifices of soldiers will never go waste and terrorists will meet their fate soon.
