PESHAWAR: The security forces killed the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) head of Balochistan along with two other terrorists, involved in the killings of over 100 innocent people of Hazara community and police personnel, in an operation on Wednesday night.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Colonel Sohail Abid of Military Intelligence (MI) also embraced martyrdom in the operation.
The security personnel conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Killi Almas, Balochistan, on the information provided by an under custody suspect about the presence of suicide bombers along with other terrorists in hideouts located in the area. The ISPR said that two of the slain terrorists were suicide bombers, while the third one was identified as Salman Badeni — the LeJ head of Balochistan. The bombers killed in the operation were reportedly Afghan nationals.
During intense exchange of fire, Colonel Sohail Abid of MI also embraced martyrdom. Four soldiers also sustained injuries in the operation. Two of the injured soldiers were in critical situation, the ISPR added. The action was carried out under Operation Raddul Fasad.
The funeral prayer of Shaheed Colonel Sohail Abid was performed in his native town Vehari, Punjab, on Thursday. He will be laid to rest in the Army’s Rawalpindi graveyard.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed grief over the death of Colonel Sohail Abid. He said the Pakistani nation is united against menace of terrorism.
PTI chief Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also expressed grief over Colonel Sohail’s death and said the nation is proud of such officers.
