PESHAWAR: Two more people died of coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday after which the death toll in the province reached 1,305.

According to latest data shared by the KP Health Department, 251 new cases were confirmed in KP during the last 24 hours taking the total to 41,723. As many as 168 more patients recovered, taking the total tally to 38,694. Active cases are at 1724.

Overall in Pakistan, 2,304 more people tested positive for coronavirus during the last 24 hours and now total active cases in the country are 23,641. In a major damage during the second wave of coronavirus, the disease claimed 37 more lives in Pakistan — 32 of these patients were under treatment in hospital and five were out of hospital, the National command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data shows. As many as 1,164 virus patients are in critical condition.

Official data shows that at present no COVID-19 patient was on ventilator in Balochistan, while 195 ventilators were occupied elsewhere in Pakistan, and 1,856 of these were allocated for COVID-19 patients.

Some 36,923 tests were conducted across the country on Thursday, including 12,599 in Sindh, 12,038 in Punjab, 3,487 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 7,187 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 746 in Balochistan, 329 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 537 in AJK.

Around 321,563 people have recovered from coronavirus in Pakistan making it a significant count with over 90 percent recovery ratio.

In Pakistan, 352,296 corona cases have been detected so far, including 5,139 in Azad Kashmir, 16,274 in Balochistan, 4,416 in GB, 23,122 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 41,472 in KP, 108,822 in Punjab and 153,051 in Sindh. About 7,092 deaths were recorded in country since the eruption of the pandemic, including 2,718 in Sindh, 12 of them died in hospital and two out of hospital on Thursday, 2,455 in Punjab, 14 of them died in hospital and three out of hospital on Thursday, 1,303 in KP, one of them died in hospital on Thursday, 250 in ICT, among two of them died in hospital on Thursday, 155 in Balochistan, one of them died in hospital on Thursday, 93 in GB, and 118 in AJK, two of them died in hospital on Thursday.
