PESHAWAR: A ten-year-boy was sexually assaulted in Dherai Korona village within the limits of Chamkani police station on Friday. Chamkani police informed that the accused has been arrested and further investigation into the case is underway.
The ten-year-old along with his father has registered a case with the Chamkani police station saying, he was playing in agriculture fields near his home when the accused identified as Imran has approached him and asked ‘what he is doing’. The boy told he replied that ‘he is looking for myna bird’.
After this, the accused assured the boy that he knows about the location of the bird. The boy alleged that he tried to sexual abuse however, he started noise asking for him due to which the accused escaped from the crime spot.
His father, while registering the case, said that when he went to the accused home to complain, his family members have started torturing him and said that they are maligning the name of their pious son. He alleged that he was severally beaten.
The Chamkani police, after registering the case, has raided the house of the accused and arrested him. Police said that a case has been registered, the accused him been nabbed and further investigation into the case is underway.
Child sexual abuse cases are being reported from various parts of the country on almost daily bases. According to unofficial statistics, in Pakistan, during the last five years, 18000 children were sexually abused and killed. However, says the study, so far only 25 culprits were granted death sentence while 11 were imprisoned for life.
Child rights activists have been demanding the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf government to implement laws on child sexual abuse. The activists believe that though police arrest the culprits however, they get released from the courts due to lack of proper evidence.
