TORKHAM, 26 September: Customs clearance agents at Torkham border on Tuesday staged a demonstration against change in clearance procedure and demanded that changes should be withdrawn.

The federal government has introduced a new system called Webhoc that would need speed of up to 12 MBps internet to clear vehicles crossing borders on both sides while there is only two MBps internet available at the border.

The agents chanted slogans against the political administration and federal government and boycotted to clear the vehicles demanding the government to withdraw it.

Talking to Tribal News Network, Hayatullah Shinwari said that the new system would only add to their problems that would further complicate process of clearing the vehicles.

The protesting agents dispersed after Landi Kotal tehsildar Shamsul Islam allowed them to clear vehicles on basis of old system.
