PESHAWAR, 1 November: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar Riaz Mehsud distributed Rs 35.4 million compensation among the earthquake victims belonging to the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday.

The ceremony was held in district administration building where Rs 0.6 million were given each to the families of 9 deceased. While Rs 0.2 million were given to the 67 people each who got critical injuries during the earthquake.In addition, 166 quake victims having minor injuries were given Rs 100,000 per person.

DC Peshawar said that a survey was underway to assess houses’ damages caused by the recent earthquake in the district saying compensation cheques would be given to the house owners soon after the completion of the survey.

Meanwhile Al-khidmat foundation distributed edibles and blankets among the quake victims in Torghar area of Batagram district on Sunday
