PESHAWAR, December 17: The death toll of the terrorist attack on Army Public School in Peshawar has reached 142 which include 132 children.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa told media last night that there were about 1,200 students in the school and 132 among them lost their lives in this attack. The school principal, teachers and security personnel were also among the victims of the heinous incident of terror.
The DG ISPR said the SSG Commandos have also killed all the seven attackers who were wearing suicide jackets. Most of the victims of the incident belong to different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. The funeral prayers of some of the slain students were offered last night and they will be laid to rest today.
Prime Minister Mr Nawaz Sharif has announced three-day mourning in the country and the national flag has been lowered at half-mast. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also announced to close all educational institutions in the province to mourn the incident. The whole country has been left in tears after the incident and the international community is also standing with Pakistan in this difficult time.
Two-minute silence was observed in all the schools in India today to express solidarity with the victim students of the Army Public School in Peshawar.
Leaders from all parts of the globe including US President Mr Barack Obama have expressed grief over the incident and assured every support to Pakistan in wiping out terrorism from its soil.
