BANNU, 21 November: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Monday that the proposal of merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not made unanimously, therefore, it should not be thrust upon the tribal people.

Addressing an Ulema conference in Bannu, the JUI-F chief said the people of FATA should be taken into confidence on the proposals of merger and establishment of a separate province. He said no legislation should be done on the FATA future until taking the tribal people on board. He said the JUI-F supports the tribal Jirga which is opposing the merger.

The Maulana said the JUI-F is playing an important role in the national and international politics. He said the party has blocked a number of laws repugnant to the teachings of Islam in the national and provincial assemblies. Similarly, he said the JUI-F has ensured passage of Islamic laws.
