PESHAWAR, 7 November: To mark the birthday of national poet Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the University Public School (UPS) Saturday organized Urdu declamation contest.

Students from more than a dozen education institutions participated in the contest, titled as “ye dour apne Ibrahim ki talash me hy” (the present age is in search of its Ibrahim, the prophet). Ameer Muaavia of the Frontier Children Academy was judged the winner of the competition while Bilal of Warsak Model School and Sabir Khan of Islamia Collegate School got second and third positions respectively.

Talking to TNN, some of the students thanked the UPS for arranging the contest and letting them express their feelings.They also thanked their teachers for encouraging them to participate in such events. They were of the view that such events should be organized on regular basis as these are helpful in polishing the hidden talents of the students.

Later, the vice chancellor of the University of Peshawar, who was the chief guest of the event, gave away prizes to the winning students.
