ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister, Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan on Sunday said that PML-N has put the country on the path of progress and prosperity despite various hurdles created by PTI and other opponents.
Addressing a function in Gujranwala, he said prudent policies of the incumbent government get rid the country of menace of terrorism and extremism, and it also controlled the energy crisis to a large extent. Khurram Dastgir said merger of FATA with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a big achievement of the government.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly on Sunday approved the KP-Fata merger bill and paved way for the merger of the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (Fata) with the province.
The bill was passed with two-thirds majority — a Constitutional prerequisite for the proposed merger whereas 92 lawmakers voted in favour while seven MPAs against the bill. Following the provincial assembly’s approval, the landmark bill will make seven agencies and six Frontier Regions part of KP. The areas have been merged with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that will enable tribal people to get representation in the KP Assembly through the amendment.
