CHARSADDA, 15 May: The Anti-Corruption Unit of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has arrested Charsadda District Health Officer (DHO) and former medical superintendent of the District Headquarters Hospital, Dr Muhammad Khan Afridi on charges of corruption in funds for the patients and illegal appointments.

Anti-Corruption Unit Inspector Jehanzada Khan said the KP government issued Rs2.1 million in the month of Ramazan last year for providing food to the patients and their attendants at the District Headquarters Hospital in Charsadda. He said DHO Dr Afridi, who was medical superintendent of the hospital at that time, has been accused of over Rs1 million corruption in the funds meant for patients and their attendants.

Police said an accountant of the hospital and another person have also been arrested along with Dr Afridi for corruption in the Out Patient Department (OPD) funds and illegal appointments.
