DI Khan Police arrest madrassa teacher for sexually abusing 5-year-old student

DI KHAN: In a seminary in Dera Ismail Khan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), a 5-year-old student was sexually abused by his teacher on Sunday. The police said that a case has been registered against the accused Qari and his arrest was been made after doctors released the medical report of the victim child.

According to police, the incident occurred in Chaudhwan Kodi Jamal area of ​​Dera Ismail Khan District on Sunday. The uncle of the victim child, Muhammad Rahmat Ullah while registering a case in Chaudhwan police station saying his nephew used to attend Madrasa Al-Manir to learn the holy Quran.  He added, as usual, the boy went to the madrasah on Sunday, but this time, he returned crying.

When the family members inquired about the matter, he replied that his madrasa Qari had sexually abused him.  After which the family rushed to the police station and registered a case against Qari. After receiving the complaint, the Chaudhwan police sent the victim boy to the hospital for a medical report.

According to police, when the medical report was received, they registered a proper case against Qari under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection Act for sexually abusing young child. The police added that the accused Qari has been arrested and further investigation into the case are underway.

In January, this year, a student of a madrassa died after he was allegedly subjected to severe torture by a madrassa teacher in Hangu. Local sources said Ilam Muhammad, a 12-year-old student at a religious seminary in Tora Warai area of Thall tehsil in Hangu, was severely tortured by his teacher Qari Inam Paracha over not memorising his lesson. The sources said the incident happened 15 days ago after which he was admitted to a local hospital. However, the madrassa denied that the student died due to torture.
