CHITRAL, 05 December: Due to the dilapidated condition of Garam Chashma road, people of the area have been facing great annoyance.

According to the local people a major portion of the road was eroded by the recent flashfloods but the concerned department did not pay any heed to this despite that they were repeatedly reminded.

“We repeatedly requested the Communication and Works (C&W) department to repair the road but all our requested have fallen on deaf years,” complained a local of Garam Chashma area.

He said the department officials daily passed on the road but they did not care about it.

Recently, a passenger van fell into Chitral River while passing through the road as a result, ten people were drowned in the river. “Now people are feeling frightened as they pass through the road,” said another resident of the area. “Had there been river banks on the roadside, that incident might not happened,” he remarked.

The local people demanded of the government to repair the road at the earliest so that local people could get a sigh of relief.
