BARA: The disabled persons of Khyber tribal district have demanded 1 percent quota for their children for free of cost education in private schools.

Bara Special Disabled Persons Organisation president Ayaz Afridi said while addressing a press conference at Bara Press Club along with other disabled persons that the government specified 2 percent quota for disabled persons in 1973, which should be increased to 5 percent. He said the government should provide monthly scholarship to disabled persons and restore the Skill Centre of Bara in the next annual development programme.

Ayaz Afridi said the disabled persons will stage protest in front of the Governor House in Peshawar if their demands were not met by 16 October. He demanded KP Governor Shah Farman, Corps Commander Peshawar Lt Gen Nazir Ahmed Butt and Commissioner Peshawar Shahab Ali Shah to help the disabled persons and resolve their problems.

He said disabled persons have right to educate their children and get government jobs and they should not be deprived of these rights.
