Displaced people of North Waziristan again stage protest in Bannu

BANNU: The people of North Waziristan Agency affected by Zarb-e-Azab operation on Monday staged another protest demonstration in Bannu in favour of demands.

The protesters said tens of thousands of people left their homes and settled in different parts of the country and also in Afghanistan after launching of military operation in North Waziristan in 2014. They said the government made many promises with them at that time, but many of that promises remain unfulfilled so far. They said they haven’t received their three instalments of Rs12,000 financial assistance from the FATA Disaster Management Authority. They said they have not received even a single instalment without staging protest.

The protesters said the residents of Madakhel, Machis and Hasukhel have not returned to their areas, but their assistance package has been withheld. They said the survey of damaged houses has not been completed yet and delaying tactics are being used in this regard. They demanded the government to ensure honourable repatriation of all the displaced people and make sure that aid reaches all the deserving people without any discrimination.
