TANK: Families of South Waziristan sheltered at camps after displacement from their areas are in distress due to cold weather and the absence of additional help from the government and aid agencies.

The district administration on Monday distributed 200 packages of non-food items, which include warm clothes, among displaced families here at Tank compound of South Waziristan with the aim to provide the IDPs relief against the cold weather.

The relief package was arranged by Islamic Relief-Pakistan on the request of FATA Disaster Management Authority. Coordinator FDMA Said Umar, Additional deputy commissioner, Dil Nawaz Wazir, Assistant Commissioner Sub-division Ladha, Furqan Ali and IDPs families participated in the event.

“The displaced families in the South Waziristan are facing severe problems due to cold weather in the region,” said the additional deputy commissioner. He claimed that the district administration have is aware of the problems that why the asked the arranged an emergency meeting with the FDMA officials for a relief package for the families.

He added that FDMA has talked to the Islamic relief and secured the package for non-food items for 200 families. The commissioner claimed that efforts are underway to provide them more relieve and resettled all the IDPs in their native areas.

Directorate Health Services Tribal Districts organize walk to create awareness about cancer

PESHAWAR: Directorate of Health Services Tribal Districts Monday organized a walk for creating awareness about deadly cancer disease.  The walk was held within the premises of FATA Secretariat on Warsak road Peshawar.

Director Health Services Tribal Districts, Dr Kalimullah Khattak, Deputy Director of Administration, Dr Ashiq Muhammad, dozens of health managers and staff members participated in the walk.

The participants of the walk were holding posters and play cards inscribed with slogans about measures to prevent cancer. The awareness walk was also supported by Green Star Social Marketing whose staff members including Coordinator, Dr Sanam Gul also participated in it.
