PESHAWAR, 19 August: The district council Peshawar on Friday approved the annual budge amid strong protest from the opposition members. The budget was presented by district nazim Arbab Muhammad Asim on Thursday.

The opposition members staged a protest demonstration against the budget and announced to move court against it. They termed it as unconstitutional and against the Local Government Act 2013.

They were of the view that a major chunk of the budget was allocated as discretionary funds for district nazim and naib nazim.

“We will move a writ petition in the high court on Monday,” said Saeed Zaheer advocate, an opposition councilor while talking to TNN.

“The district nazim has allocated Rs250 million for himself while Rs80 million have been given to the naib nazim,” he informed.
