MARDAN, 18 November: The Mardan police high-ups have dissolved the dispute resolution councils and replaced them with a single district level council.

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday the district police officer Faisal Shahzad said the district level dispute resolution council would be comprising of 21 elders besides other officials. The council would try to resolve issues pertaining to land disputes and other local problems.

He further said that 147 liaison committees had been established at gross root level which would keep a liaison between the police and the public at lower level. The committees, he added, would inform police about any illegal activities taking place in their respective areas. These committees would be comprising of 21 members each.

Similarly, law and order committees had been established on police station level which would be comprised of nazims, naib nazims, councilors and elders of the area. These committees would be cooperating with the police regarding maintaining law and order situation.
