PESHAWAR: Ten more people, including another doctor, died of coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours, according to official data.
KP also reported 427 new coronavirus cases taking the toll to 54,448, while the number of deaths stands at 1,521.
Another doctor died of COVID-19 in Peshawar on Saturday. Dr Mohsin contracted coronavirus few weeks ago and was under treatment at Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) Peshawar.
Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) said total number of doctors dying from coronavirus has risen to 38 in KP. Dr Mohsin was an anaesthesiologist and was posted at City Hospital Peshawar.
4 corona-infected children under treatment at KTH
At present, 95 corona patients are under treatment at isolation ward at KTH. The KTH spokesman Farhad Khan said four children suffering from coronavirus are also admitted to the isolation rooms. The infected children include age one-year-old Junaid Umar, nine-month-old Ayan Khan, two-month-old Abbas Khan Umar and four-year-old Kubra.
Smart lockdown in Peshawar
The district administration of Peshawar has imposed smart lockdown in some more areas of the city due owing to rapid increase in coronavirus cases during the second wave.
The new areas under smart lockdown include:
House No. 160, Qafila Road, Defence Colony, Khyber Road.
House No. 25, Street No. 1 Rashidabad Charsadda Road.
House No. 59/A Syed Ahmed Colony Peshawar Cantt.
House No. 69, Street No. 5 Sector G-III Phase II Hayatabad.
House No. 50, Street No. 5, Sector K-V Phase III Hayatabad.
House No. 358, Street No. 5, Sector N-II Phase IV Hayatabad.
House No. 140, Street No. 7, Sector F-III, Phase VI Hayatabad.
The concerned police satiation has been directed to ensure no entry and exit of irrelevant persons in said areas to stop spread of coronavirus.
Corona kills 87 people in Pakistan
The death toll from coronavirus in Pakistan has reached 9,250 after 87 more deaths were reported during the last 24 hours.
As many as 3,179 more people tested positive for the deadly virus during the last 24 hours taking the tally of infections to 454,673. At present, active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan are 40,922. As many as 4,649 more people recovered from coronavirus during the last 24 hours.
A total of 6,264,135 corona tests have been conducted so far, while 615 hospitals are equipped with COVID-19 treatment facilities.
