BUNER/SWABI, 17 August: The district police officer (DPO) of district Buner Khalid Mehmud Hamdani survived a terrorist attack on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

According to police, Hamdani was travelling in Karakar area of district buner when his car was attacked by a roadside improvised explosive device (IED). Police sources said the DPO remained unhurt in the attack, however, two police personnel sustained injuries.

The injured police personnel were shifted to hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile in Swabi, police claimed to have killed an alleged militant during an encounter on Wednesday afternoon.

An official of the Kalu Khan police station told TNN that a police mobile team was on routine patrol in Asota village when their van was attacked by two militants who were riding a bike.

Police retaliated the fire during which one of the attackers was killed on the spot while the other succeeded to escape from the scene.

A search operation was conducted in the area soon after the incident but no arrest were made till the filing of the report.
