PESHAWAR, 12 December: Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch resigned as chief minister Baluchistan on Saturday. This he announced during a news conference in Islamabad alongwith National Party (NP) chief Mir Hasil Khan Bizengo.

Dr. Baloch’s resignation is part of the Murree accord reached between the NP and PMLN after the May 2013 general elections. In 2013 general elections, none of the parties got clear majority in the house and consequently a coalition government was established. According to the Murree agreement, National Party was offered the office of the chief minister for a period of two and a half years whereas the second half of the five-year tenure was allotted to the PMLN.

Speaking on this occasion Hasil Bizenjo thanked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for providing his party an opportunity to lead government in the province despite having no majority in the assembly.

Dr. Abdul Malik said he would continue his efforts for the development of Baluchistan and would support Sanaullah Zehri’s government.
