BANNU, July 24: A driver of the police department has been arrested in Bannu for allegedly taking bribes from displaced people of North Waziristan. In separate incident, an internally displaced person has been killed by unidentified people in the area.

Personnel of the Saddar Police Station arrested police driver Mr Naseebullah in front of the Bannu Sports Complex red-handed as he was taking bribes in exchange for letting IDPs enter the sports complex without waiting in the queue to receive food and non-food items.

Personnel of the Saddar Police Station said driver Mr Naseebullah had been detained in lockup and that investigation was in progress.

Meanwhile, unidentified armed men shot dead an IDP, Mr Akhya Jan, hailing from Macha Mudakhel tribe. The police say the fresh incident has raised the death toll of IDPs in firing to six.
