BARA, 24 July: The tribal elders of Bara sub-division of Khyber Agency have decided to impose Rs2 million fine and demolish the houses of people involved in smuggling of drugs through their women.

The Jirga headed by former federal minister Hameedullah Jan Afridi was arranged in Takia area of Bar Kambarkhel on Saturday. The Jirga held successful negotiations with Mehsud Scouts Commandant Ayub Sukhera and it was decided that search of women and disembarking them from vehicles will be banned in the area from Sam Ghakhi check post to Takhta Beg area.

The Jirga assured the Frontier Corps that steps will be taken to stop smuggling of drugs in the area through women. The Jirga decided that the drug smugglers will face Rs2 million fine and their houses will be demolished under the tribal traditions.

The tribal elders also appealed to the elders of other areas to play their role in controlling drug smuggling.

The Jirga was attended by the elders of Sheikhmalkhel, Dre Plari and Wandagray and Awami National Party provincial vice president Imran Afridi was also present on the occasion.
