PESHAWAR: An earthquake jolted different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Friday morning, however, no losses were reported.

According to reports, tremors were felt in Madan, Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Chitral, Swat, Jamrud, Malakand, Khyber tribal district and some other areas.

The tremors originated from the Hindu Kush mountains and were recorded at 5.1 on the Richter scale. According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad, the quake struck at 4:36am. It had a depth of 113 kilometres. However, fortunately, no loss was recorded in the earthquake.

Media reports said tremors were also felt in some areas of Afghanistan in the wee hours of Friday. The intensity of the quake in Afghanistan was reported at 4.9. No report about any loss was received from Afghanistan.
