QUETTA, 02 May: Awami National Party (ANP) has given a shutter-down call in Quetta city on coming Wednesday May to mark their protest against changes in Economic Corridor route.

The nationalist and religio-political parties have announced their support to the call. The nationalist party has also announced to hold an all-party conference on the issue soon. Central secretary-general of the party, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, who came here on Thursday last along with party’s vice president Bushra Goar, said that they have contacted various political forces of Balochistan. Mian Iftikhar said that the route of Ecnomic Corridor should be reversed to its old design.

“A huge economic activity is going to start in Pakistan, 70 per cent of which will go to Punjab. In the old design Punjab’s share was almost nil as its economy, as compared to other provinces, was much better. We want our rights. We want the old route. If all the railways and industrial zones are established according to the old map, then we have no objection even hundreds of routes are taken out of Economic Corridor,” Mian Iftikhar said.
