HARIPUR, 11 August: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to introduce biometric system in by-election on National Assembly seat, NA-19, Haripur, set for coming Sunday.
The seat fall vacant after Supreme Court declared the victory of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) MNA Raja Amir Zaman in last general elections held on 12th May 2013 null and void. It merits a mention here that the country would witness biometric balloting system for the first time in its history.
The commission said that voters at 30 polling stations in the constituency would poll their votes biometrically. Sixty biometric machines have been arranged for the purpose, it added. All the contestants have also shown their willingness on biometric system of balloting in 30 polling stations.
