MARDAN, 7 November: District nazim Mardan, Himayatullah Mayar on Tuesday demanded to increase number of constituencies in his district in light rise in population.

Addressing a session of District Council, he said that population of the district has been increased from 1.9 million to 2.4 million since 1998.

He asked the federal government to give Mardan its due right and increase number of its seat keeping in view rise in number of its population.

The Election Commission would reduce nine seats of the Punjab province while five seats of KP would be increased, three in Balochistan one in Islamabad.

New legislation has been delayed due to differences among parliamentary parties as almost all parties demanding that the upcoming general elections should be held on old constituencies.
