ISLAMABAD, 26 October: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday accepted the written apology of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and dropped contempt notices issued to him.

PTI chief had accused the institution of being biased and ignored repeated notices asking him to appear before the commission.

The PTI chief appeared before the commission in connection with two contempt petitions filed against him.

Babar Awan, counsel representing PTI and other leadership accompanied the PTI chief. Awan said that Imran Khan has apologized twice for his remarks leaving no option for contempt proceeding against him.

The ECP had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for PTI chief that were suspended by Islamabad High Court with directions to appear before the commission.

However, Khan refused to comply with court order and refused to appear before it.
