BANNU, 12 July: The Red Crescent Society, an international non-governmental organisation (NGO), has distributed Eid package among 700 internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency in Bannu.

A ceremony in this regard was arranged at a local hotel in Bannu on Saturday where 700 IDPs from North Waziristan got ghee, sugar, lentils, rice and other necessary items.

The displaced persons who received Eid package had mixed reaction ever the package.

“They have given us a complete food package which includes ghee, rice and lentils. We are happy over whatever aid is given to us,” a displaced person told TNN.

“They should have given us fans and batteries in this hot weather. The package given to us is just not enough. The food package given to us values less than a thousand rupees,” another IDP said.

Ikramullah Jan Kokikhel, Red Crescent head for FATA region, told TNN on the occasion that he had made special efforts for distribution of Eid package among the displaced persons of North Waziristan. He said the Red Crescent will continue its help with the IDPs in the future.
