LONDON, July 24: The England women’s cricket team has defeated Indian women team by nine runs and wins the Women’s World Cup at an ecstatic Lord’s.
Chasing 229 runs, India were bowled out for 219 with eight balls unused.
Earlier the England team scored 229 runs for seven in the allocated 50 overs. From England side, Sciver and Taylor remained top scorer with 51 and 45 runs respectively.
In reply, India team was looked set for victory at 191-3, but Anya Shrubsole pinned Punam Raut lbw for 86 to spark a collapse of seven wickets for 28 runs.
