PESHAWAR, 28 November: England on Friday won Twenty20 series by defeating Pakistan by three runs in the second match of the three-match series in Dubai.

England batted first after winning the toss and made 172 runs for the loss of eight wickets. James Vince scored 38 runs, while Jos Buttler made 33. Shahid Afridi got three wickets, while Anwar Ali got two.

In reply, Pakistan fell short by three runs after playing 20 overs and lost eight wickets in the process. For Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi scored 24 in eight balls, Ahmed Shehzad scored 28, Shoaib Malik made 26 and Muhammad Hafeez made 25. Rafatullah Mohmand and Sarfaraz Ahmed also contributed to the effort with 23 and 19 runs, respectively, but they could not surpass the target despite getting so close. For England, Liam Plunkett got three wickets and was declared man of the match.

The third and last match of the series will be played in Sharjah on Monday.
