SWAT, 17 Nov ember: The two-day exhibition to promote handicrafts in Swat organised by the Ministry of Trade concluded on Wednesday.

A large number of people from Malakand Agency attended exhibition in Saidu Sharif area where hand-made items at homes were put on display.

Hina Pitras, a woman who installed a stall of hand-made shawls, told TNN that this activity will show to the world that Swat has such a fascinating industry of hand-made products.

“The purpose of the exhibition is to promote the hand made and room products,” she said.

For the first time, envoys from 24 countries of America, Europe and Central Asia came to Swat to attend the exhibition. The Swedish envoy on the occasion purchased some items made from the wood.

“I am very happy after coming here. I saw some hand-made products here at the exhibition which relate to the old history of Swat and its people,” she told TNN.

The hand-made products from wood and emerald stones attracted attention of most of the visitors.

“It is very encouraging that such exhibitions are being held in Swat. After restoration of peace in Swat, it was first time that envoys from different countries visited the area,” a visitor said.

Federal Trade Minister Khurram Dastagir Khan, who was chief guest at the exhibition, said such events will be organised every year.
