PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak said on Sunday that everyone, except political rivals and media, is happy with the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Peshawar.
Speaking at a news conference at the Chief Minister’s House, the chief minister conceded that the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government failed to complete the BRT project as per its schedule. However, he said now some of its portions would be opened on May 20 this year. He claimed that it would be the fastest project to be completed in such a short span of time.
The chief minister said his government would not present annual budget for next fiscal year and also asked the federal government not to present annual budget as it would be the mandate of next elected governments.
Mr Khattak on the occasion announced electoral agreement with former federal minister Salim Saifullah Khan for Lakki Marwat district in the next general elections. Under the agreement, Salim Saifullah would contest the polls as independent candidate with PTI’s support. Saifullah brothers would support the PTI candidates for the provincial assembly in the same district.
The chief minister said that some PTI MPAs, who had voted against party candidates in the Senate election, were now joining other political parties, but they would be exposed. He conceded that there are 14 PTI MPAs who had not voted for party candidates in the Senate election.
Salim Saifullah said that he would contest the next election as an independent and he will not join any party.
