PESHAWAR, 9 July: The Afghan media has claimed the death of former Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Shahidullah Shahid in a US drone attack in Afghanistan.
The media reports stated that the former TTP spokesman who was currently associated with the Islamic State (IS) militant group was killed along with his 25 associates in a drone attack in Nangarhar province on Wednesday. The identity of other militants killed in the strike is yet to be ascertained.
Shahidullah Shahid had parted ways with the TTP last year to join IS, which claims establishing Islamic rule in some parts of Iraq. He belonged to Orakzai Agency of FATA. Soon after his allegiance to the IS, the Pakistani Taliban disowned Shahid.
A large number of Pakistani militants escaped to Afghanistan after the launch of Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan in June last year.
